Why LangGraph for Your Product

LangGraph is a framework for building stateful, multi-step agent workflows that need to make dynamic decisions at runtime. Built on top of LangChain, it models your AI application as a graph where nodes are processing steps (LLM calls, tool executions, data transformations) and edges define the flow between them - including conditional branches, loops, and parallel paths. If LangChain gives you chains, LangGraph gives you state machines for AI.

The core problem LangGraph solves is orchestration complexity. Real AI agents are not linear. A customer support agent might need to: classify the inquiry, look up the customer's account, check order status, decide whether to escalate, draft a response, get human approval, and then send it. Each step depends on the results of previous steps. Some steps happen in parallel. Some loops back. The agent needs to maintain state across all of this and be interruptible at any point for human review. LangGraph handles this orchestration natively - you define the graph, the state schema, and the transition logic, and LangGraph manages execution, persistence, and resumption.

LangGraph also provides built-in support for human-in-the-loop workflows. You can configure checkpoints where execution pauses and waits for human approval before proceeding. This is critical for production AI systems where fully autonomous behavior is not acceptable - financial transactions, content moderation, customer communications. At UniqueSide, we use LangGraph for every project that involves multi-step AI workflows, and it has become our default for agent orchestration in Python applications.

What We Build with LangGraph

  • Multi-step AI agents - Agents that plan, execute, observe, and iterate autonomously - dynamically choosing which tools to use and when based on intermediate results and changing goals.
  • Human-in-the-loop approval workflows - AI systems that process work autonomously but pause at configurable checkpoints for human review, approval, or correction before proceeding.
  • Complex RAG pipelines - Retrieval-augmented generation systems with query routing, adaptive retrieval strategies, re-ranking, and self-correction loops that improve answer quality iteratively.
  • Multi-agent collaboration systems - Workflows where specialized agents (researcher, analyst, writer, reviewer) collaborate on complex tasks, passing state between them through a managed graph.
  • Conversational AI with branching logic - Chatbots that handle complex conversation trees with conditional paths, context switching, and stateful progress tracking across sessions.
  • Automated content pipelines - End-to-end content generation systems that research, outline, draft, edit, fact-check, and format content through a series of specialized AI steps.

Our LangGraph Expertise

UniqueSide's AI engineering team adopted LangGraph early and has used it to build production agent systems across 40+ projects. We understand the framework at a level that goes beyond documentation - we know the state management internals, the checkpointing mechanisms, and the patterns that produce maintainable, debuggable agent graphs. Our 20+ engineers have built LangGraph workflows that handle thousands of concurrent agent executions with proper error recovery and observability.

We have built AI agents for customer support automation, document processing pipelines for legal and financial firms, and multi-agent research systems that produce analyst-quality reports. Every LangGraph project we ship includes LangSmith integration for tracing and debugging, comprehensive error handling with fallback paths, and monitoring dashboards that track agent performance in production. Our MVP development services start at $8,000, and we can ship a production-ready agent system in 15 days. Hire LangGraph developers with real production experience.

LangGraph Development Process

  1. Discovery - We map your business workflow into a graph structure, identifying decision points, parallel paths, human approval gates, and failure recovery strategies. We define the state schema that flows through the graph and prototype the critical path.
  2. Architecture - We design the graph topology, define node types (LLM calls, tool executions, conditional routers), configure checkpointing for persistence, and establish the state management strategy. We select the appropriate LLM providers for each node.
  3. Development - We implement the graph using LangGraph's Python API, building each node as a testable, composable unit. State transitions are explicitly defined with typed schemas. LangSmith tracing is configured for every node to enable production debugging.
  4. Testing - We test individual nodes in isolation, then test complete graph executions end-to-end. We simulate failure scenarios, verify checkpoint/resume behavior, and test human-in-the-loop workflows. Edge cases in conditional routing receive particular attention.
  5. Deployment - We deploy using LangGraph Platform or custom infrastructure with proper auto-scaling, state persistence, and monitoring. Production dashboards track graph execution times, error rates, and LLM costs per node.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use LangGraph instead of plain LangChain?

Use LangChain when your AI workflow is linear - a prompt goes in, an LLM processes it, and a result comes out, possibly with some retrieval steps. Use LangGraph when your workflow has conditional branching (different paths based on LLM output), loops (retry or refine until a quality threshold is met), parallel execution, or state that needs to persist across steps or sessions. If you are building anything that looks like a flowchart rather than a pipeline, LangGraph is the right choice.

Is LangGraph production-ready?

Yes. LangGraph is used in production by companies ranging from startups to enterprises. It provides built-in state persistence (using PostgreSQL, SQLite, or Redis), checkpoint management for long-running workflows, and integration with LangSmith for observability. LangGraph Platform offers managed deployment with auto-scaling and monitoring. We have deployed LangGraph systems that handle thousands of concurrent agent executions reliably.

Can LangGraph work with non-LangChain components?

LangGraph's nodes can contain any Python code, not just LangChain calls. You can mix LangChain chains, direct API calls to OpenAI or Anthropic, custom Python functions, database queries, and external service integrations within the same graph. This flexibility is one of LangGraph's strengths - it orchestrates the workflow while letting you use whatever tools are best for each step. Our engineers frequently combine LangGraph orchestration with custom implementations for performance-critical nodes.
